✨✨🥧 Homemade apple pie is simply magical. I love it when it's a little less sweet, but big on spice with an imperfectly flaky golden crust 🤤 Each year, around this time, I feel the push and pull from social media to surround myself with gords and chunky blankets and spend the better part of weekends baking.
🍂 🍁 This fall, I've taken apple pie off my to-cook list, and I'm totally ok with that.
Instead, I'm going to celebrate the crisp, cozy fall weather with savory recipes. I want bowls of warm gingery squash soup with crispy seed crackers, and skillets filled with herby roasted pork and sweet tender apples 🍎
🧡 It's almost a practice of self-love, to choose the hearty, savory recipes over the sweet comfort classics. But really, I just don't have time to spend a Sunday rolling out pastry dough and coring apples. Because fall is only so long, and I have so much that already that I want to cook 💫
🚗 This weekend we're slipping away from the city and heading up north. Jeffrey will be helping his Dad bring in the docks from the lake for the season; while I'll be staying warm by the 🔥 grill, indulging in what will probably be my last BBQ of the year ❄️🌬 I've already got the heritage pork chops marinating 🥳
